Eltham Palace
Another beautiful Art Deco building run by the English Herritage. It’s in south London, in Greenwich, so great place to go out for a day. It was also featured in many films and tv series. I reacently seen in in the Hustle.
Hoover Building
Art Deco bulding designed by Wallis, Gilbert and partners in the 30′s. It was also featured in Poirot, The Dream from 1989. It’s just georgeous.
Brussels Dream
Czech Style at the Cold War Modern at the V&A. The Czechoslovakian Pavilion at the Brussel Expo 1958 was an example of functionalism. It was designed by Frantisek Cubr, Josef Hruby and Zdenek Pokorny. The restaurant was moved to Prague in 1960 and placed in Letenske Sady. It was closed in the 90’s and today there are offices. At least it didn’t get pulled down and still dominates to Letna.
Container City
Container City at the Trinity Buoy Wharf is an amazing place. Set deep in the Docklands, where the nearest stop is North Greenwich at the Jubilee Line and the QEII Pier for the Thames Clippers. Then you somehow have to manage cross the River on a shuttle that operates for people who work and live at the Trinity Buoy Wharf. Or the recommended journey is to go to Canning Town and then walk. I did both and the water journey is more interesting. There the only Lighthouse in London and most important the Fatboy’s Diner original American diner from the 40′s. Inexpensive and yumi burgers. And of course the Container City, I just fell in love with that place, it must be great place to live, or at least work there. And of course the view of the Millenium Dome.
